Privacy policy
This page is maintained by the Noor team to explain, in plain language, what Noor stores and how it is used. It is not a certification or an independent audit.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and display name when you create an account.
- App data you create: bookmarks, notes, memorization plans, recitation scores, Ramadan and Kids Mode progress, community posts and messages.
- Device preferences: theme, brightness, font size and reciter choice, stored on your device.
Recitation audio
- When you tap the microphone, your recitation is sent for speech-to-text and tajweed analysis so we can score it and highlight mistakes.
- We store the resulting text analysis and scores so you can review progress. Audio is used to produce that analysis and is not published or shared with other users.
- You can use Noor's reader, prayer times and Daily Ayah without ever enabling the microphone.
How we use your data
- To run the features you ask for: reading position, bookmarks, memorization plans, scores and reminders.
- To keep community spaces safe: automatic message filtering, warnings, bans and appeal reviews.
- To answer your questions when you contact us or message an admin.
Children and family accounts
- Kids Mode is designed to be used under a parent or guardian's account, with PIN-protected parent controls.
- Public chat is hidden from users under 14. Youth chat is limited to ages 14–17, and a parent can enable or disable chat and youth chat at any time.
- Kids Mode data is limited to progress, stars and rewards.
Payments and donations
- Subscriptions and donations are processed by Stripe. Noor never sees or stores your full card details.
- We keep a record of your plan, donation amounts and receipts so you can view your history.
Who can see what
- Your private data — bookmarks, notes, scores, plans — is visible only to you.
- Messages you send to admins are private to the Noor team and are never shown to other users.
- Community feed posts, comments and chat room messages are visible to other members of that space, and to admins for moderation.
Retention and deletion
- We keep your data while your account is active. Delete individual items (bookmarks, notes, posts) at any time inside the app.
- To delete your account and its data, contact us and we will remove it. Some records, like donation receipts, may be retained where required for accounting.
Your choices
- Turn reminders and notifications off at any time in the app.
- Turn the microphone and AI features off — they are always opt-in per session.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or ask for a correction, using the contact page.
